Ultraviolet (UV) light in nature is electromagnetic radiation with the wavelength of 10-400 nm, produced by the sun.  The UV radiation is further divided in UV-A (400-320 nm), UV-B (320-280 nm) UV-C (280-100 nm) which has the highest disinfectant capacity (with a peak-effect wavelength of 254 nm).  Modern science has been able to create UV-C lighting that is able to penetrate the cell wall of microorganisms, and alter the DNA structure such that the microorganism becomes non-viable; unable to reproduce or infect a patient.

Environmental cleaning and disinfection are important components of a comprehensive strategy in order to control healthcare-associated infections. It is especially advantageous for use in hospitals because it kills the spore-forming bacterium Clostridium difficile, which is a major source of hospital-acquired infections. Whole-room UV disinfection systems were first introduced to US hospitals around 2007. Since then, popularity has surged because they sanitize practically all of the surfaces in a room at once, with minimal labor and without hazardous chemicals

Safety Precaution

The Operator is advised to follow the following instruction during surface disinfection application

1) The UV radiations are harmful to human, animals and plants; therefore, the equipment shall keep away human, animals, and plants during operation.
2) Make sure the room is unoccupied prior to disinfection, No entry tag with “disinfection cycle is in progress” shall be put at the door .
3) When the lamp is under application, it is strictly prohibited to look directly at the UVC lamp to avoid eye burning and irradiation to human body to avoid burning skin.
4) Avoid UV-C lamp irradiation exposure to pet and plats also
5) If you want to check the operation of the UV-C lamp, must wear professional protecting glass and cloths to avoid corneal burn and skin burn.
